Councilmember
John Dukes
 |
Councilmember John Dukes was elected to the office of City Council on November 4th, 2008. For the past 15 years, he’s lived in Yuba City. He runs a successful Insurance and Financial Planning Business in Yuba City where he teaches people how our money system really works. He has served on the Yuba City Planning Commission, the Sutter County Planning Commission and as the Chairman of the Yuba City General Plan Update.
Council member Dukes worked hard during his first term as Mayor of Yuba City to accomplish the three goals he set forth in is Inauguration speech.
- He was successful in starting a “Business Walk” program where civic leaders walked to local businesses to meet with owners and management. The goal was to reach out and develop a working relationship with businesses and government to help make doing business in our city easier.
- The second goal was to streamline the way the City does business and make it more cost effective. We have cut costs over the past three years to bring our overall operating costs in line with the current lower revenues we have to work with. There is still room for more changes in the way we conduct business, and he will continue to work to achieve a better model to run our city into the future.
- He was successful in helping to create a two tiered Cal-Pers retirement system. With all new hires in the future they will have a different plan that is more sustainable for the future of our City.
He looks forward to another challenging year as we continue to deal with the important issues that our City faces in the future. |
