The City has recently completed an update of the Housing Element of the City of Yuba City General Plan which is now available for public review and comment. The purpose of the Housing Element is to identify and analyze existing and projected housing needs in order to preserve, improve and develop housing for all economic segments of the community. Public participation in the Housing Element update process is very important to ensure a comprehensive update. To view a copy of the draft document, click here.
The public comment period will close on May 13, 2008.
The Housing Element update will cover the City’s housing policies, goals and objectives for the five-year planning period 2008 through 2013. The updated Housing Element will also address the following topics required by State law:
Population growth and employment trends
Household characteristics
Housing costs and vacancy rates
Inventory of available land
Governmental and non-governmental constraints to housing production
Special housing needs
Energy conservation measures
Existing affordable housing developments
Review and evaluation of the previous Housing Element
