A recent study by Consumer Reports revealed that bathroom wipes advertised as flushable do not disintegrate like toilet paper and can cause problems with sewage and septic systems when disposed of down the drain. These products do not break down easily and can result in sewage backups both in your residence and in the City’s main sewer lines. The City of Yuba City requests that residents do not dispose of these products down the drain. It is recommended that these products, as well as infant wipes, are bagged after use and disposed of into the trash.
